Event Summary

The oceans are rich in biodiversity ranging from microscopic organisms to the world’s largest mammal, the blue whale. Are you passionate about marine life and want to learn more? Curious about the marine environment and want to support science? We invite you to submerge yourself into the underwater world of iconic marine organisms including sharks, jellyfish and whales.

Learn about lesser-known facts about these majestic marine animals and experience the oceans in an interactive and engaging hands-on event, delivered by experienced local marine scientists.

We encourage, young and adult minds, to join the ocean conversation, with scientists as they present some of the most iconic marine organisms that occur in our own beaches. See live jellies under the microscope. Get hands-on with sharks, touch their skin and teeth and learn how they use our water ways. Immerse yourself in whale songs sung in the big blue as they rest along the Gold Coast.

Live presentations will connect you, our local community, with researchers sharing important information about marine species and what is happening in our local marine environment. Enjoy fascinating underwater videos, learn about citizen science opportunities. Jump in the opportunity to be a part of humpback whale surveys, dolphin surveys and help collect invaluable research data.

Come along and dive deep into marine science and protect the beautiful blue!
